From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

The company involved in an explosion from late last year in Marengo missed its deadline to hand information over to the Department of Natural Resources. The DNR told TV9 the company, C-6 Zero, did not provide a list of the chemicals used inside the plant by the deadline earlier this week. The explosion shook the town of Marengo in December, injuring at least 10 people. Iowa’s Attorney General is suing the business and is demanding they comply with the DNR’s emergency order. That includes allowing the DNR access to the site.

A city park in Hudson is closed until further notice after what the city called ‘several acts of vandalism’. Property damage forced the city to close down Franck Park, which sits on the east edge of town. The city’s public works department placed concrete barriers at the park’s entrance to try and deter more people from going in. It’s not clear when the park will reopen.

Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson is promoting a group that supports service dogs for veterans during next week’s State of the Union address. Her office announced U.S. Army Sergeant Trent Dirks will be her guest at the President’s speech on Tuesday. Sergeant Dirks works with the group Retrieving Freedom in Waverly, which trains service dogs to give to veterans. Together they’re bringing a focus on access to veterans’ mental health care access.

A group of fifty kids from the Boys and Girls Club in eastern Iowa will get to go to this weekend’s Hawkeye men’s basketball game against Illinois. This all started when the Iowa Athletic Department found out about a fake order of 200 tickets for the University of Illinois student section- known as Orange Krush. The buyer falsely claimed to be buying the tickets for an Illinois chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. After canceling the order for the Illinois students, the Iowa Athletics Department is instead donating those tickets to the Boys and Girls Club of the Corridor. The game is at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
