From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

Russian hacking group “Killnet” has claimed to have taken down the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s website along with websites of other hospitals across the U.S. The UIHC, the Children’s Hospital and the Carver College of Medicine went down in the afternoon but were back up last night. They said their IT team is investigating the cause. Just last month, the Department of Health and Human Services warned hospitals about a nationwide hacking threat. Doug Jacobson with Iowa State University says the Russian hackers have been on a rampage since the U.S. joined Germany to send tanks to Ukraine. He said unlike the ransomware attacks on school districts we’ve seen in recent months this incident may not do too much damage. University of Iowa Health Care said patient care is NOT affected by the website outage… and the affected sites have no patient data on them.
The mother of a boy who went missing and was found dead months later, plans to plead guilty to drug charges. Court documents show Sarah Harrelson will admit to selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer in Des Moines last year. Prosecutors are recommending a suspended sentence and probation–meaning no prison time. Harrelson’s son, Xavior, disappeared from their home in Montezuma in May of 2021. A farmer found his remains in a field outside of the city that September. There are no suspects and no arrests in that case.
Dubuque County Jailers say an inmate grabbed a deputy’s taser while refusing to go back to his cell. 27-year-old Donchavell Crawford is now charged with interference with official acts and disarming a peace officer when he was being led from solitary confinement. Three deputies have minor injuries.
An emotional night last night at Carver Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeye men’s basketball team officially honored Chris Street, thirty years after his death. Street died after a car accident in January of 1993, halfway through his junior season. His family was at the game last night against Northwestern for the special honor, recognizing his life. This game was supposed to happen about two weeks ago, but an outbreak of COVID-19 on the Northwestern team postponed it.
