The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 60-year-old Timothy Hildenbrand. The crash remains under investigation.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Honor Flight scheduled to take from the Eastern Iowa Airport on Tuesday has been canceled. A group of Iowa Veterans were at the Eastern Iowa Airport Tuesday morning for the flight that would take them to visit memorials built in their honor in Washington, D.C. However, the flight has now been canceled, but the nonprofit plans to reschedule it. The airport said a plane malfunction caused the flight to be delayed. The delay was expected to last at least three hours, which the nonprofit said would have greatly impacted the Honor Flight’s schedule, shortening some memorial visits and canceling others entirely. “An abbreviated itinerary is not the experience our veterans deserve,” states Eastern Iowa Honor Flight President, Jason Brandon. “Our Board made a difficult decision to cancel today’s trip to Washington D.C. to ensure that these 90 veterans share in the same full experience as the veterans on the 44 flights that have made the trip before them.” The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Board will work to reschedule the flight, and will be in contact with the veterans and guardians once plans are made.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson has been discharged from the hospital after being treated for a kidney infection. She was admitted on Sunday evening. The hospitalization forced cancellation of a debate planned for Tuesday night between Hinson and her Democrat challenger Liz Mathis. “I am grateful to everyone who has sent thoughts and prayers over the last few days,” Hinson said in a statement. “I am feeling much better, will continue resting at home, and look forward to getting out on the road to be with Iowans soon. The doctors and nurses at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital have been incredible, and I want to thank each of them for their exceptional care.”
