Fewer Than 100 Days
This past Sunday marked 100 days until the November general election…meaning today, the countdown drops to 98 days.
I’ll pause a moment so you can audibly groan…because I’m sure you want to.
I know what you’re thinking—that’s more than three months of mud-slinging ads, constant ads, candidates showing up everywhere smiling and shaking hands, promises of all kinds made—and that’s all more than you think you can take.
First, you’re an Iowan…you’re made of strong stock. You braved heat indices of more than 115 yesterday, and still recall when the wind chill was -50 a few months ago…you toughed it out through that, you can make it through this.
But I understand the sentiment; in fact, I share it.
This election provides a stark distinction between candidates up and down the ballot. No confusion about one being like the other. This is, by all accounts, a very clear series of choices you’ll be making. For that reason alone, it’s very important and you can’t just bury your head in the sand.
Although I would not blame you for mentally checking out on it for a while, and coming back to focus—say, after Labor Day (which is late on the calendar this year, so even more of a rest for you).
We’ll still be here, keeping tabs on it for you and having candidates on the radio…and I’m not saying you should take a mental sabbatical from all the campaigning…but at the 100 day point…I certainly understand, and feel your pain.
