DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is celebrating a judge’s decision to uphold Iowa’s trespass law. Last week, a federal judge upheld a law meant to preserve farmers’ privacy and property rights. Within the last seven years, three lawsuits have been filed challenging Iowa’s anti-trespass laws. Out of the three laws, two were previously upheld. Last week’s decision dismissed the challenge to the third Iowa law. Iowa Attorney General Bird responded to the success Friday. “Farmers should be able to farm without fear of trespassers. That is why Iowa passed important laws to prevent trespassers from lying to get onto a property and hurt it, planting secret recording devices, or filming on the property they trespassed onto,” says Bird. “I fought to defend those laws that strengthen security for farmers and property owners. We won and protected farmers. Farmers, we have your back.”

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – The name of the victim killed in a Waterloo home explosion has been released. Authorities revealed the victim as 48-year-old Bryan Lee Mueller, who was the only occupant at the time of the explosion. In addition, investigations suggest that the explosion, which was confirmed to be due to a natural gas leak, was intentional. The Waterloo Fire Marshall made a preliminary determination Wednesday that the natural gas leak came from inside the home, and that Mid-American equipment was not the cause of the leak. Investigators confirmed this information Friday. The home explosion occurred early Wednesday morning on the corner of Sager Avenue and Sheerer Avenue in Waterloo.
