ANAMOSA, Iowa (KCRG) – At approximately 11:32 a.m. Wednesday, officials with the Iowa State Patrol responded to the 13000 block of Buffalo Rd. for a report of a vehicle hitting a child. Officials say a child was sledding and going downhill when it crossed in front of a 2008 GMC Envoy that was driving northbound on Buffalo Rd. The child was reportedly injured following the incident. Charges are not being filed at this time. An investigation is underway.

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – A 48-year-old man who distributed significant quantities of methamphetamine has been sentenced to federal prison. Evidence at the trial showed that between 2020 and 2022 Jeffery Turner of Waterloo obtained approximately 20 pounds of methamphetamine from multiple sources. On two separate occasions in 2022, law enforcement was able to conduct controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Turner. On January 5, Turner was sentenced to 360 months imprisonment. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his sentence.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Avelo Airlines is switching its Dubuque flight to/from Orlando to a seasonal service, pausing the flight in early April 2024 and not resuming it until November 2024. The Dubuque Regional Airport is one of eight airports where the Avelo service to/from Orlando is being switched to seasonal service. Avelo has modified its services at 26 airports over the last year, identifying crew levels, aircraft maintenance schedules, and demand compared to previous years as factors in the decision. Avelo Airlines just ended its flight from Dubuque to Las Vegas last weekend.

HAWKEYE, Iowa (KCRG) – A West Union woman is facing numerous charges, including child endangerment, after officials say she was intoxicated when she crashed a van into a ditch in the town of Hawkeye on Tuesday night. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said it happened when 35-year-old Linnie Magnuson was heading southbound on R Avenue and lost control, heading into the ditch. Deputies said a child under the age of 10 was with Magnuson when the crash happened. Magnuson was reportedly found later at another home in Hawkeye, where she had locked herself and the child in a room. Officers forced their way into the room and took Magnuson into custody. Magnuson faces charges of Operating While Intoxicated third offense, two counts of Child Endangerment, Driving While License Barred, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Control, Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive, and Interference with Official Acts.
