WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Police in Waterloo said one person is dead after an early morning stabbing Saturday. First responders were called to 1139 Langley Road for a report of a fight and a stabbing around 1:05 Saturday morning. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male stabbing victim in the common area of the apartment building. Police said lifesaving measures were initiated at the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital. He has since been declared dead. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of family. Police said this is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the community. TIFFIN, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids woman is in custody after police said she broke into a home in Tiffin and allegedly assaulted the homeowner. A Johnson County Sheriff’s Office criminal complaint shows deputies were dispatched to a home on Owen Street in Tiffin just after 6:00 Friday morning for reports of a burglary. The complaint said 18-year-old Larkyn Dolan of Cedar Rapids entered the home without the consent of the homeowners. Dolan took several clothing items from the home and admitted she went into the home to take items. Deputies said Dolan admitted she should not have gone into the home. The criminal complaint said the homeowners discovered Dolan attempting to hide while they were searching the home. That’s when Dolan grabbed one of them by the hair, pulling some of it out. The criminal complaint said the victim’s father stopped the assault. Authorities said Dolan also admitted to driving to the location, and had extremely slurred speech, very poor balance and admitted to taking several central nervous system depressants. Deputies said a Standardized Field Sobriety Test showed significant impairment. Dolan is charged with one count of 2nd Degree Burglary, one count of Assault Causing Bodily Injury and one OWI.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A 28-year-old woman was sent to the hospital after a vehicle hit her while she was riding her bicycle. Officials say another woman, driving a 2026 Volkswagen Taos, failed to yield to the cyclist and struck her. The cyclist was sent to the hospital via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The Linn County Sheriff’s office says this accident happened on Beverly Road just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning. The driver of the Volkswagen was cited for failure to yield.
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KCRG) – A person was airlifted to UIHC after a brief chase with police in Davenport late Saturday night. At around 11 p.m., the Iowa State Patrol says officers tried to stop a driver on a motorcycle near East 6th and Iowa Street. That driver, who hasn’t been identified, drove off before losing control and wrecking into a parked car. The crash caused the driver to leave the bike and land in the roadway. The motorcyclist was treated for a head injury at Genesis East before being airlifted to UIHC.
