Favorite Holidays
This past Friday was a national holiday, which they call “Juneteenth”. It’s the newest day off for federal workers, established during the Biden presidency.
Scott Rasmussen conducted a poll for Napolitan News on the subject of holidays and which people think are most important; not all of these on the list are actual national holidays, but it makes the point. The question asked if a certain holiday should be among our “most important”.
Three on the list were named to the “most important” category by a majority of the 1,000 registered voters surveyed—Christmas topped the list at 56 percent, with Independence Day at 52 percent, and Veterans Day at 51 percent. Memorial Day was close behind at 44 percent.
A total of 37 percent put Thanksgiving into the “most important” category…with another 34 percent saying Mother’s Day should be included. Sorry, Dads…you had your day yesterday, but Father’s Day didn’t make the top 13 on the list.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day was included by 31 percent of folks, with Easter next at 28 percent. Then came Labor Day and New Year’s Day, at 24 and 20 percent respectively, to round out the top ten.
Juneteenth was at 19 percent…just ahead of President’s Day at 17, and Earth Day at 11.
And again, some of the things listed aren’t actually holidays…while some actual holidays didn’t make the list. Maybe we have too many holidays, if we can’t even keep track of them all.
