The Iowa Farm Act continues to move through the State Legislature as lawmakers work to finalize the comprehensive ag policy package before the session comes to a close.
Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig says the bill has already cleared the House with strong bipartisan support.
Naig says that momentum has carried the legislation to the Senate, where discussions are now focused on working through differences and aligning the bill with broader budget priorities.
He says some provisions have been separated and are moving independently, but the overall goal remains getting key policies signed into law.
Naig says while some of the tax-related components are still being evaluated within the larger budget and property tax discussions, there continues to be broad support for the policy side of the bill.
He says that support reflects the importance of the legislation to Iowa agriculture.
Naig says the Farm Act is built on direct input from farmers and stakeholders across the state, and he remains optimistic lawmakers can reach an agreement before the legislative session adjourns.
