Eastern Iowa Airport leaders continue to voice their concerns about a proposed Alliant Utility Plant that could be built less than five miles from the airport’s main runway. The airport commission met with a team from Alliant to ask questions about the plant and the process of choosing this specific site. Airport officials say their main concerns are how close the plant would be to runways and plumes of smoke from the plant that could potentially impact airport operations. The airport is spending nearly $70,000 on a study exploring the potential impacts the utility plant could have on airport operations.
