DES MOINES, Iowa — (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau/KCRG) — President Donald Trump is planning to return to the Iowa State Fair, according to U.S. Representative Zach Nunn, the 3rd District Republican from Bondurant, who posted the news on social media Friday. This year’s fair runs from August 7-17. Trump will visit on the fair’s opening day, according to Nunn. Trump also attended the fair in 2015 and 2023.

TAMA, Iowa (KCRG) – A loud music complaint led to the arrest of three men in Tama County, with two now on an immigration hold. Tama Police arrested Maynor Perez-Castro, 24, with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, drug stamp violation (four counts), and keeping a drug premises. Jesus Abarca- Gomez, 23, was with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, keeping a drug premises, and fraudulent documents. Jose Delmar Hernandez-Gomez, 22, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping a drug premises. Police received loud music complaints in the 1000 block of Oswego Street, the sixth time reported in two weeks by multiple neighbors. Officers arrived and drug paraphernalia was in plain sight. Officers obtained a search warrant, leading to an arrest. All three men arrested were booked into the Tama County jail. Maynor Perez-Castro was released and the other two men were taken by immigration authorities. They are both being held at the Linn County jail. This case is under investigation, including additional charges for Perez-Castro.

CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – Police have identified the man killed in a recent Coralville shooting. Coralville Police Officers responded to a call at the Western Hills Mobile Home Court. As officers headed to the scene, dispatchers told them about a shooting. When officers arrived, they found 27-year-old Mason Edwards of Coralville with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Edwards died at the scene. The case remains under investigation. Edwards was himself charged with attempted murder in 2021 for shooting a man in the legs at the same mobile home court.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A man crashed his motorcycle in Buchanan County after losing control on the highway. On June 12, Christopher Keidel of Epworth was driving westbound on Highway 20 when he lost control of his 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, without wearing a helmet. Police received several calls in the afternoon reporting the accident on Highway 20 near the 256 mile marker east of independence. The motorcycle crossed the median and eastbound lanes, rolled over, ejecting Keidel who landed in the eastbound lanes of the roadway. He was transported to Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, he suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police cited him for Failure to Maintain Control of Motor Vehicle.
