No Regrets
There was no shortage of polling data this past week, tied to President Trump’s first 100 days in office. Approval ratings, policy preferences, personnel—everything was asked about, it seemed.
But I found an Emerson College poll to be among the most interesting of all…because it showed no regrets among voters.
The poll of voters who participated in last November’s presidential election showed that nearly all of us would vote the same way if the election were held today.
A total of 94 percent of those who voted for Trump said they’d do it again. Of those who supported Kamala Harris, 93 percent said they’d vote for her again today, given the chance. Overall, the poll’s synopsis says that means Trump would again win the popular vote, 48 to 47 percent.
Divided then, divided now, apparently.
Emerson’s poll on the subject 50 days into the second Trump term showed that 39 percent said he was doing better than expected, 36 percent said worse, and 24 percent thought he was doing about as they expected.
In short, we knew the choice…we knew what we were getting…and nothing about any of that has changed.
