Taxpayer Funded
A KXEL listener sent a text, wondering who was paying for the U.S. Senator from Maryland to travel and, apparently, sip margaritas with the deported illegal alien gang member. A number of news sources report that since the man was living in Maryland, you can bet that you paid for the trip.
Senators are given travel money for official visits abroad for themselves and staff members. That’s in one fund, plus they have their office accounts…so the chance the Senator paid for any of this himself is virtually zero. And even if he or a staff member pulled out a personal credit card to book the flight, they’d be reimbursed later.
Another half dozen or so are planning trips themselves. Apparently, the margaritas are that good. And yes, you’ll pay for those “official visits” as well.
But there’s a limit. Two Democrats wanted the House Oversight Committee to pay for their trips, which the Republican committee chair, James Comer, quickly shot down in a letter, noting how it was “absurd” they were requesting the committee pay for the travel when they have been “hostile” to the committee’s oversight of the border crisis to this point—including the previous four years.
There is all manner of waste and mismanagement of our tax dollars. Here’s another.
