CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Falls Police Department responded to a group fight Friday afternoon. Police were called to the 4800 block of University Avenue following reports of a group fight. When officers arrived on scene, several individuals informed police that they were chased and assaulted. Officers were able to follow a subject on-foot, where they caught and arrested him. Several other subjects fled before officers made it to the scene of the crime. Currently, one juvenile male has been charged with three simple misdemeanors: Interference with Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, and Assault. The subject was also charged with Harassment in the First Degree, an aggravated misdemeanor.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – A third person has been arrested in connection to an assault that happened in Iowa City last year. Police said Jared Reed of Crawfordsville is facing charges of participation in a riot and willful injury. The assault happened in the 200 block of East College Street on Dec. 14, 2024. According to court documents, three men followed and attacked the victim after a fight in the Ped Mall, grabbing them from behind then pinning their arms back as they punched, kicked, and stomped on the victim, even after they were unconscious. Investigators said this arrest concludes the investigation into the December 14th assault.
LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – One person is in critical condition after a crash in Linn County Friday night. Iowa State Patrol said a Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on I-380 at the U.S. 30 overpass around 11:15 when it drifted off the roadway into the median. That’s when the Jeep hit the bridge guardrail and began to spin. The driver was ejected through the roof of the Jeep. The driver was transferred to a local hospital and was in critical condition.
