From the KCRG TV9 Newsroom:

All 20 counties in Iowa’s first congressional district have certified their ballots, declaring Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks the winner. Miller-Meeks has led Democrat Christina Bohannan by around 800 votes for days. Bohannan has not conceded the race, and there’s not an official winner until all votes are canvassed and certified by county boards of supervisors. But that deadline was yesterday for all counties to do just that.

The Johnson County Sheriff is renewing his push for a new jail, as the current building suffered more water damage from rain and an incident overnight. An inmate apparently caused that damage two nights ago, but Sheriff Brad Kunkel says it’s really part of a larger problem at the aging jail. It’s renewed his call to request for another one. It would be the first jail construction referendum since the last one failed in 2013.

The number of Iowa schools getting the state’s lowest rating has quadrupled. The Iowa school performance profiles measure everything from reading and math scores to chronic absenteeism as well as graduation rates. It also rates the schools, with the lowest rating as priority. Last school year, 186 had that lowest rating compared to just 45 the year prior.

Cedar Rapids police have arrested a man they say robbed a Wendy’s at gunpoint. Officials say 34-year-old Jamercion Bush robbed the Wendy’s on First Avenue Northeast. He faces four charges, including first-degree robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The attorneys representing a man accused of killing a Marian woman did not call a single witness to the stand. McKinley Louisma is charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder in the death of Melody Hoffman. Today, the jury will hear closing arguments and then deliberate.
