WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Officials with the Waterloo Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that the man who was found dead in the 400 block of West Parker Street has been ruled a homicide. According to Captain Jason Feaker, the Waterloo Public Information Officer, multiple people found a dead adult male’s body on the ground near Corky’s Auto. Feaker says the body appeared to have been there for some time. Officials later identified the man as 27-year-old London Moore of Waterloo. Officials have now confirmed that Moore’s death was caused by a gunshot wound. Investigators have ruled his case a homicide. BENTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Officials with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office say they have canceled the missing persons report for Zander McClintock after finding his remains on Tuesday. McClintock was last seen on March 31, 2024 in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. Officials reportedly found his vehicle approximately 5 miles south of Vinton with human remains at the scene. An initial investigation suggests that the incident was the result of a motor vehicle accident. Foul play is not suspected according to police. The incident remains under investigation.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Education is receiving $900,000 in grants to expand the Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option. These programs provide meals and snacks to those 18 years of age and under while they’re out of school over the summer. In a news release, Governor Kim Reynolds says the new state-directed Summer Meal Program Expansion Grant will launch more summer meal sites to serve more children in currently underserved areas across the state. The meals can be served at various sites like schools, churches, community centers, parks, libraries and camps. The expansion will allow additional local sponsors and partners to apply to participate in the programs.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids Fire Department is investigating a fire at a barbershop. Firefighters believe it’s a case of arson. Early Wednesday morning, someone threw incendiary devices into ‘The Men’s Room,’ according to the public information officer. That barbershop is in the 1500 block of 1st Avenue Southeast. A bystander called the fire department around 2:30 am Wednesday morning after seeing flames inside the shop. Cedar Rapids firefighters say the fire was put out quickly. The building had light fire damage and moderate smoke damage. ‘The Men’s Room’ barber shop hasn’t even been in this location a year. The shop had to relocate after its previous building was damaged.
