DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – On February 12, 2024, at approximately 7:18 p.m., Dubuque Police responded to Unity Point Finley Hospital for a report of a patient with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators say that traffic cameras show the victim was in the area of the 2300 block of Queen St before they were transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. Officials are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Dubuque Police at 563-589-4415.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – On Tuesday, Governor Reynolds requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for numerous Iowa counties due to significant snowfall during the January winter storms. Experts estimated nearly $8.9 million worth of damage occurred from the record-breaking snowfall that occurred between January 8 and January 14, 2024. The governor requested funding for Adair, Black Hawk, Cedar, Clinton, Davis, Delaware, Dubuque, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Lucas, Montgomery, Polk, Scott, Story, Wapello, and Washington counties.

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (Sioux County Radio/KCRG) – Nine people were injured in a bus accident after a pickup failed to yield at the intersection. An accident report from the Sioux Center Police Department says 22-year-old Rudy Ramirez Simon was driving northbound on Highway 75 in a pickup. Meanwhile, 26-year-old Eriayana Frazier of Omaha was driving southbound in a charter bus heading towards the same intersection. According to Sioux County Radio, the report says Simon failed to yield to the bus as he turned on 16th Street. The vehicles then collided. Sioux County Radio says eight people on the bus and Simon received minor injuries but none were taken to the hospital. Simon’s pickup was totaled with $15,000 in damages while the bus sustained $20,000 in damages.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man is facing charges after police say they found explosives in his home. Court documents say police were called to the 1900 block of Western Drive SW for a suspicious device on February 5, 2024. Police said the device was a sealed container containing flash powder in a tube with a fuse. A lit cigarette was being used to time the explosion. Investigators say they found 44-year-old Dennis Spratte’s fingerprints on the tube. During a search of Spratte’s home, they also found two more tubes with fuses attached. Spratte is now facing several charges, including possession of explosive materials or a destructive device, with intent to use.
