From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

Police officers say they’re investigating after a body found Tuesday morning in the Bee Branch Creek near Rhomberg Avenue in Dubuque. They’ve identified the victim as 65-year old Dale Heinze. Police say the investigation into his death is ongoing, but they don’t believe there’s any danger to the public.

Demolition is delayed again on part of the dilapidated Dubuque Brewing and Malting Building after crews found more asbestos. It’s prolonging an effort to redevelop the eye sore that the city says is in danger of collapsing. Neither the city nor the developer has a timeline yet to clean up the asbestos and there is no way to know when demolition could resume. Workers at a nearby restaurant say business is down due to blocked streets, with one person questioning if the impact on local businesses is outweighing the historical significance.

A bill that would set gender definitions as a man and a woman just advanced out of the house education committee. The bill passed through a subcommittee earlier Tuesday and is now being heard in the Education committee in the house. The bill aims to create a new code defining a person’s gender as their sex assigned at birth. It would be required on documents and ID such as driver’s licenses and birth certificates. It also says people will be identified only as male or female when collecting public data.

An Iowa House subcommittee approved a move to extend Medicaid coverage for new mothers in Iowa.  Right now, Iowa laws provides women with coverage during pregnancy and 60 days after giving birth. The bill would extend this coverage to one year after giving birth. This is a bill Governor Kim Reynolds proposed in her Condition of the State address last month.
