IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band announced on Sunday it will be performing both pregame and halftime at the Citrus Bowl. This announcement comes after a prior announcement that Gavin Degraw would be performing during halftime. The official message from the Citrus Bowl: “We’re working closely with Iowa and Tennessee to design a great experience for this year’s Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The university bands will perform on the field both in pregame and at halftime. We appreciate the creativity and goodwill of the university band leaders to make this possible. During the halftime show presented by Cheez-It Snap’d, our live performance will be followed by traditional bowl game performances from The Hawkeye Marching Band and The Pride of the Southland Band. We have a special day planned for the Vols, the Hawkeyes and the coast-to-coast audience who gather around their televisions for this New Year’s tradition. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Orlando for ‘The Best Bowl Trip in America’ later this month.” The Hawkeyes take on the Tennessee Volunteers in the Citrus Bowl on January 1, 2024 in Orlando, Fla.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – A Dubuque County shed was destroyed after a fire on Sunday morning. Just before 5:00 a.m., the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, the Ashbury Fire Department, the Centralia Fire Department, the Key West Fire Department, and the La Motte Fire Department all went to 8273 Feeney Road after receiving a report of a structure fire. William Brune said that he left his tractor plugged in overnight to keep the inside of the machine shed warm. When his dogs woke him up the next day he learned that the shed was on fire. The shed and the equipment inside were a total loss with an estimated value of $200,000. No one was injured during the incident.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – On Saturday, December 9, 26-year-old Jack Klein was arrested by Independence Police. Klein was a suspect in a child endangerment investigation after the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services told the Independence Police Department about a child ingesting THC on Sunday, November 19. After obtaining a search warrant, the home was searched. During the search, multiple controlled substances and drug equipment were found. Therefore, Klein has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms. Klein was also charged with Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, Child Endangerment Resulting in Bodily Injury, his second offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people were injured after a crash in Jefferson County. At 6 p.m. on Friday, a 2008 Ford F250, driven by 58-year-old Charles Heisel, and a 2002 John Deere tractor, driven by 45-year-old Orlado Oregon-Espino, were traveling east on Highway 34. The Ford rear-ended the tractor. The Ford stopped in the roadway and the tractor ended up in the south ditch. Both Heisel and Oregon-Espino were injured. Heisel was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital and Oregon-Espino was taken to Jefferson County Hospital.
