CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Former President Donald Trump will make campaign stops in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo on Saturday. The stop in Waterloo will be at the National Cattle Congress, at 257 Ansborough Avenue, at 1:30 p.m., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. The stop in Cedar Rapids will be at the DoubleTree By Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex, at 350 First Avenue NE, at 4 p.m. Doors are expected to open for the Cedar Rapids event at 1 p.m.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Students will return to the classroom Tuesday for the Cedar Rapids Community School District with a greater police presence at schools. The district sent a letter to parents late Monday afternoon. It reiterated the district was working with Cedar Rapids Police, state agencies and the FBI on this. They stressed the safety of students, saying they will not be allowed to bring backpacks or purses with them and lunch boxes will be searched. Students can use a clear bag to hold some items like their Chrome Books. The District also says while schools will start on time, there will only be one or two entrance points into school buildings. Those, they say, will be marked.

MANCHESTER, Iowa (KCRG) – Investigators with the Manchester Police Department said they arrested a juvenile male, putting a stop to potential violence at West Delaware High School this week. Police said they started investigating along with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation after receiving a tip on Wednesday about the possible violence that would happen at the high school. Officials did not detail the investigation, nor what threats were made, but the juvenile was taken into custody. He has not been identified, but has been taken to the Northeast Detention Center.

DECORAH, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa nonprofit rescued a Great Horned Owl that had gotten tangled in a soccer net at Luther College. The Raptor Resource Project shared images of the rescue on its Facebook page on Monday morning, saying the college and the Decorah Police Department reached out for help. “RRP’s master bander David Kester removed the net from the GHO’s wings, body, and neck in expert fashion before checking it for injuries and setting it on the ground to recover,” the nonprofit wrote in the post. “In no time at all, it was up and flying!”
