Northeast Iowa Community College and the University of Iowa celebrated a new partnership they hope will help future nurses get their bachelor’s more easily. Nursing students at NICC will earn their associate’s degree, then transfer to the UI college of nursing online for another year. A recent survey showed more than 90 percent of nurses believe the nursing shortage is getting worse.
We’re going to see temperatures in the 90s on Saturday when the Hawkeye football team kicks off its season at Kinnick Stadium. The university says fans going to the game will be allowed to bring in multiple sealed water bottles. Concession stands will also sell bottled water at a lower price. An expanded rest area will be set up near the First Aid Station at the southeast corner of the stadium. There will also be additional doctors onsite to help fans who might be suffering from heat exhaustion.
Iowa State takes on UNI at Jack Trice Saturday. But a new project in one of the lots means less space, and big changes. The CyTown development is going up across from the stadium on Lincoln Way. Lots north of the stadium have been moved farther north in the Scheman Courtyard. A lot of parking has also been moved. Iowa State Athletics says the temporary headache will pay off for people.
