From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

Part of East 30th Street in Dubuque is closed because of falling debris from a nearby building. The city says the debris came from the Dubuque Malting and Brewing Building on Jackson Street. East 30th Street is closed from Jackson to the alley between Washington and Elm Streets until further notice.

Davenport officials say the search and rescue team, Iowa Task Force One out of Cedar Rapids, has de-mobilized its search, rescue and recovery efforts. Crews have determined the Davenport apartment building that started to collapse more than a week ago is now clear of victims. Those crews are now in the process of removing collapsed material from the foundation of the building.

One person has died and another is seriously hurt after a crash involving a semi-truck Tuesday morning at the intersection of County Home Road and North 10th street. Deputies say a semi-truck was heading westbound on County Home Road, when it collided with a car crossing the intersection. The passenger inside the car died, and the driver was seriously hurt. The truck driver was also hurt.

The Cedar Rapids man who went from facing life in prison to 10 years behind bars in the death of a 22-year-old woman now wants a new trial. Arthur Flowers is convicted of beating Emily Leonard to death inside his home last April. The Defense filed a motion asking the court for a new trial, claiming the evidence doesn’t support the verdict. Flowers is set to be sentenced on Friday.

The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors now has until the end of July to decide if it is going to buy part of a building to relocate the 9-1-1 call center. It’s a five million dollar project on Chavenelle Road. One of the County Supervisors says one of the big reasons a decision has yet to be made is because of uncertainties over how it will be paid for. Supervisors say there may be more than one option that could save the County money.
