DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — One of two teenagers charged in the beating death of an Iowa high school teacher will testify against his co-defendant. Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding said Wednesday Jeremy Goodale will testify against Willard Miller. The teenagers are charged with first-degree murder in the death of 66-year-old Nohema Graber, their Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School. Her body was found in a Fairfield park in November 2021. The disclosure came during a hearing on a motion by Miller to suppress evidence against him. Court records do not indicate what Goodale might receive in exchange for his testimony.

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Officials arrested a 28-year-old man in the 900 block of Linn Street, in connection with the shooting that took place in Marion almost two weeks ago. On March 17, police responded to Cocktails and Company in Marion for a report of a shooting at the bar. A KCRG-TV9 crew arrived at the scene shortly after and reported seeing at least two ambulances and nearly a dozen law enforcement vehicles at the scene. 32-year-old Cameron Barnes was shot and killed in the incident.Following an investigation, U.S. Marshals arrested Duval Walker Jr. on Wednesday. He’s charged with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm or Offensive Weapon by a Felon, and Going Armed with Intent. Walker was transported to the Linn County Correctional Center in Cedar Rapids.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A company announced it is recalling a packaged pasta dish sold in HyVee grocery stores in eight Midwestern states. Chester, Illinois-based Gilster-Mary Lee Corp. said Tuesday it was recalling HyVee Hamburger Chili Macaroni Skillet Meals produced at a plant in Steeleville, Illinois, because of undeclared milk in the product. The milk could be dangerous to people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk. The recall is for lots packaged in 5.2 ounce cartons that have a best by date of Feb. 8, 2024. The food was sold at HyVee and Dollar Fresh Market stores in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. People can return packages to HyVee stores for a refund or can discard it.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Employees at a downtown Iowa City location have become the first in Iowa to start the process to form a union, part of a growing trend for Starbucks nationwide. Starbucks Workers United shared a video this week from Iowa City Employees at the 228 S Clinton St. location announcing they had filed paperwork with the National Labor Relations Board. 31 employees signed the petition, including full and part-time workers and shift supervisors. If 70% of employees vote in favor to unionize, it would be the first Starbucks in Iowa to officially gain bargaining power. At least 290 Starbucks locations in 42 states have successfully formed a union after a Starbucks in Buffalo became the first in December 2021.
