Winning
One of the campaign pledges made by President Trump the first time was that the country would be winning again…so much so, that we’d say we were tired of winning so much. He’s reverted to that off and on since.
Yesterday’s agenda at the White House, however, showed a new version of it. Can you think of another time that the Stanley Cup…and the Nobel Peace Prize…were both in the White House at the same time?
In the morning was announcement of a Trump-sponsored health care reform plan—in the absence of Congress making any moves on the topic. Then he welcomed the reigning National Hockey League champions, the Florida Panthers…who brought a Trump 47 hockey sweater, a stick that one player said was good for slashing, and of course, Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Then he met with a leader of the Venezuelan opposition, who not only brought her Nobel Peace Prize medal…but apparently gifted it to the President and the American people for their support of the anti-Maduro movement.
Somewhere in there, he also met with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, too.
That’s all in the space of a few hours. And the President and Secretary of State are apparently attending the college football national championship game in Florida on Monday.
Puts my to-do list to shame. Yours too, no doubt. And gives all new meaning to the phrase “winning”.
