The Year Was 1946–delegates to the United Nations first met in New York, the Nuremberg trials were held, and Winston Churchill delivered his “Iron Curtain” speech at a Missouri college…in music, Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys released the classic “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton teamed up for “Anything You Can Do” from the Broadway musical “Annie Get Your Gun” and Nat King Cole released “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)”…on the big screen, “The Big Sleep,” “Notorious” and “It’s A Wonderful Life” premiered…while new radio shows included “The Bickersons” featuring Iowa’s Don Ameche and detective series “Sam Spade”.
