From the KCRG-TV9 Newsroom:

A judge is ordering a Marengo company to comply with Iowa DNR orders following an explosion at its facility. C-6 Zero has been under scrutiny since this explosion at its Marengo facility in December that injured 10 people. The company has until February 17th to give DNR agents access to search the facility as well as a list of chemicals used in the building. The Iowa DNR says the company had refused to do those things both before the explosion and in the weeks since.

A coalition group plans to hold another protest this afternoon at 1 to call for racial justice for Devonna Walker, the Cedar Rapids woman stabbed to death last month. It comes as the Linn County Attorney says a decision on the case is not expected until the end of the month. Video circulating online shows Walker in an argument with neighbors at Cambridge Townhomes on January 2nd. A coalition including the Advocates for Social Justice and NAACP called that update encouraging, but delayed. The protest is set for the intersections of First Ave and 16th Street Northeast in Cedar Rapids.

A Cedar Rapids woman will be at the U.S. Capitol when President Biden delivers his State of the Union address tonight. Senator Joni Ernst invited Sydney Reickhoff as her guest. She is the CEO and co-founder of Almost Famous Popcorn in Cedar Rapids. Ernst said she’s excited to have Rieckhoff as her guest, to share her accomplishments and talk about ways to overcome small business issues.

Dubuque may install traffic cameras. The city already has a network of cameras, but none that issue speeding or red light tickets. Police want to put cameras in high traffic areas like the Northwest Arterial, Asbury, as well as Dodge Street. They say this will help cut down on officers patrolling the area for speeders.

Iowans will have to wait a bit longer to take advantage of the new mobile ID that turns your phone into your driver’s license. New national and international security standards have delayed the rollout in Iowa. When the app rolls out, you’ll find your photo and other personal information, just like your license. It will also have a Q-R code you can use to share your ID with anyone who needs it.
