The Year Was 1970–Television programs premiering included “The Partridge Family,” “The Flip Wilson Show” and “The Odd Couple”…popular movies included “Patton” and “M*A*S*H”…on the top 40 charts, we heard “American Woman” by the Guess Who, “ABC” by the Jackson 5 and “Close to You” by the Carpenters…in the news, the Apollo 13 mission was aborted…demonstrators were shot by National Guard members at Kent State University…and American Motors introduced the Gremlin.
