Time Flies
Nothing makes you stop and realize how quickly the year is flying by than to be reminded it’s time to purchase your 2023 calendars.
Yes, I have access to electronic calendars…but I don’t trust them. For example, I’ve never had my paper calendar or planner run out of battery. I can also easily see a month or a week at a glance without squinting and scrolling.
Often, the folks who produce those appointment books or planners include a page as September draws to a close, reminding you that it’s time to order your new planner so you have it in plenty of time for the new year.
I stopped at a store in town and picked up my set for 2023…it’s easier for me to keep track of interviews for KXEL in one planner, topics and sponsors for “Iowa Almanac” in another, the same information for “Iowa Business Report” in a third, and so on. Make fun if you want, but I also use a No. 2 pencil, with an eraser cap, for marking in those organizers.
I always loved getting school supplies and books for the first day of classes, and you’ll still find me spending way too much time browsing in an office supply store much like others drive through car lots or clothing stores.
But it’s also a marker…that the sand in the 2022 hourglass is rapidly draining away, with so much left undone from the list that greeted the shiny new year.
Maybe “make time slow down” should have been at the top of that list.
