WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) – Waterloo Police Officers were sent to the 2300 block of Lafayette in Waterloo Saturday after receiving a report of a man with a gun. Officers arrived at the scene and found a man with a weapon walking through the area. The male refused to drop the weapon after officers asked multiple times and walked away from the police. The man continued to walk for several blocks and then brandished the weapon, afterwards the officers shot him. The man was then provided first aid and taken to a local hospital; he was later transported to the University of Iowa for additional treatment. The officers were not harmed during the incident. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations will be the primary investigating agency for the incident.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Falls Police responded to a report of shots fired at the 2100 block of College street close to Hidden Valley Apartments in Cedar Falls Saturday night. At the scene, officers found damage and other clues indicating that shots had been fired. Officers don’t believe anyone has been injured. Those with information about the incident should contact the Cedar Falls Police, Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers, or the Black Hawk County Dispatch.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – At 9:35 p.m. Saturday night, Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies, Center Point Ambulance Service, Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue 57, and Central City Fire Department went to the scene of a motorcycle accident in Central City on Highway 13 south of Al Waterhouse Avenue. At the scene, crews learned that the driver, 58-year-old David Blauer from Marion, lost control of a Harley Davidson motorcycle and ended up in the median while traveling south in the northbound lanes. Blauer was not wearing a helmet. Center Point Ambulance took Blauer to St Luke’s for non-life threatening injuries. Blauer is facing the following charges: Driving while Barred, Wrong way on a 4 lane highway, Fail to Maintain Control, No Insurance, and Operation without Registration. Blauer also has active warrants for Harassment 1st and Felony Attempting to Elude.

NEW YORK (AP) — More than 3.1 million viewers watched Fox Sports’ broadcast of Major League Baseball’s second “Field of Dreams” game, about half of the audience for the 2021 game. The Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 on Thursday night at a throwback ballpark in eastern Iowa, a short walk from the main field for the 1989 movie. Fox Sports says it was the most-watched regular-season baseball game on any network this year. Major League Baseball has not committed to returning to the site.
