Trendsetter

Yesterday, we saw photos of various individuals, including members of Congress, be arrested outside the Supreme Court building in Washington. They were protesting the Court’s decision in the Dobbs case, overturning Roe v. Wade.

A number were led away by police, but one especially curious photo showed New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez…she was led away with her hands behind her back in what we’re used to seeing in an arrest situation.

Except…there were no handcuffs. She apparently wanted you to think she was cuffed and stuffed, as they say…but no handcuffs were visible.

I’m at first tempted to make a snarky remark about other imaginary things for Democrats in public settings, like the president shaking hands with air.

But I may be to blame for this one.

We’ve shared photos with you on line and on social media of me standing next to the governor and the mayors of Waterloo and Cedar Rapids as each official signed a proclamation for KXEL’s 80th anniversary. I’m just standing there, taking up space.

One of our astute NRG Media account executives noticed a trend, however…despite the fact that the photos were taken on three separate days, in three separate cities, I am in essence posing the same way…with my hands behind my back. It has therefore been suggested that I was wearing handcuffs and placed there by authorities in each case.

I have to tell you, he’s not wrong…it sure looks like I’m a guy wearing a suit, but handcuffed in back. I assure you that was not the case, and I have witnesses to prove it.

If AOC or any of the others were influenced by my pose, I sincerely apologize to the world…but just as in those photos of me, no actual handcuffs were used in those photos of some being arrested yesterday. My portrayal was by accident, however.
