DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Three teenagers died in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning. The Iowa State Patrol said it happened at about 1:21 a.m. when the driver of a 2014 Chevy Camaro, William Wodrich, 18, of Dubuque, was heading southbound on NW Arterial at a high rate of speed. Wodrich reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which went into the ditch, vaulted and rolled at NW Arterial and W 32nd Street. The driver, along with passengers Kennedy Elskamp, 17, and Chloe Lucas, 17, both from Dubuque, died in the crash.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Western Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra says he would support a nationwide abortion ban, should Republicans take back Congress. The Republican’s remarks came after his second annual “family picnic” in Sioux Center. High-ranking Republicans stumped for Feenstra, including potential 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley. Feenstra pulled out all the stops Thursday, inviting Iowa’s ag secretary, governor and a fellow congresswoman to promote his campaign in Sioux Center. During his speech, Feenstra made clear Republicans lacked a solid plan for governing the country the last time they held a majority in Congress in 2018. But he says Republicans are already laying plans if they take Congress back this fall. Haley gave strong endorsements to both Feenstra and Gov. Kim Reynolds, going so far as to call Reynolds the best governor in the nation.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The “Time Check” neighborhood in Cedar Rapids is now home to some unique artwork. Muralists Jeff Huntington and Julia Gibb are adding their work on the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Ellis Boulevard Northwest. One piece is on the side of some newly constructed row housing, featuring Iowa’s state bird, the goldfinch. The artists say this public art is adding some beauty to the neighborhood. The second mural is across the street, promoting the Mirrorbox Theatre’s new location. The mural covers the entire west-facing back wall of the new theatre.

DECORAH, Iowa (KCRG) – A Decorah man was uninjured in a plane crash that knocked out power to surrounding residents on Wednesday night. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office said the crash, involving a Kitfox ultralight, single-passenger aircraft, happened at about 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Old Stage Road and Glenville Road. Law enforcement said the pilot, from Decorah, attempted to take flight from his pasture when the plane clipped a barbed wire fence, sending it into a power line, causing the plane to crash into a ditch. The damage to the power line caused a power outage for nearby residents. Officials said the plane sustained about $6,500 in damage.
