Don’t Be So Stressed
I feel I had to say that, because apparently, the world is too stressed…and getting worse.
Gallup recently conducted its annual global update on the negative and positive experiences that people are having each day.
Analysts say 2021 was so full of uncertainty, that the world became a slightly sadder, more worried, and more stressed-out place than it was the year before, when COVID began. And that led Gallup’s “negative experience index” to another new high of 33.
The results are gathered by asking adults in 122 countries and areas if they had five different negative experiences on the day before the survey. Last year, 4 of 10 adults worldwide said they experienced a lot of worry or stress…3 in 10 experienced a lot of physical pain. Nearly a third experienced sadness, and a bit fewer than that experienced anger.
Just another day at the office, you might say.
On the down side, fewer people reported that they had positive experiences the previous day…the first drop in the number in five years.
So put it to the test…did you have five negative experiences yesterday? How about five positive experiences? If you don’t like the balance…perhaps look first at how you deal with things. Might be a good place to start, to change the conversation…as the first half of this year 2022 comes to a close.
