Come Help Us Celebrate
Often in this space, I let you in on things happening at the radio station. This is one of those times.
As you may know, KXEL is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year…it was at 5:30 a.m. on July 14, 1942, that KXEL-AM 1540 first went on the air. As part of our year-long celebration, we take a look back at a certain year in history each morning at 8:15. If you miss those, go to the “KXEL@80” link at kxel.com
Today, we’re pleased to tell you that we’re throwing ourselves a party…and we’d love for you to join us.
From our earliest days, we’ve done regular appearances at the National Cattle Congress in Waterloo…so what better place to hold our KXEL 80th Anniversary Community Picnic that at the Pavilion right inside the main gate of the Cattle Congress grounds. It will be on Saturday, July 23rd from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We’ll have all sorts of great Iowa food, plus a variety of events inside the Pavilion including on-stage conversations with Iowa political leaders and many of the voices you hear regularly on KXEL. We’ll give you the full schedule as the time draws closer, but we already know that Sen. Charles Grassley will be there…and we hope you will be too.
In order to make sure we have enough food, we’d like you to reserve your free ticket by clicking on the “KXEL 80th Anniversary Community Picnic” link on the main page of kxel.com. Bring the whole family and help us celebrate eight full decades of service to Iowa and the Midwest.
Again, that’s Saturday, July 23rd from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the National Cattle Congress Pavilion in Waterloo…get your free ticket at kxel.com.
And since I probably don’t say it often enough, thanks for listening to News/Talk 1540 KXEL…we appreciate it more than you know.
