The Year Was 1971–The New York Times printed the “Pentagon Papers” following a leak by Daniel Ellsberg…the legal voting age was dropped from 21 to 18 years of age…television shows premiering included “All In The Family,” “Columbo” and “The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour”…we saw movies such as “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory,” “The Last Picture Show” (for which Iowa native Cloris Leachman won an Oscar) and “Fiddler On The Roof”…and on the pop music charts, “Joy to the World” by Three Dog Night, “One Bad Apple” by the Osmonds, and “Chick A Boom” by Daddy Dewdrop.
