They Should Have Rounded Up
This is the time of year when I’ll be checking out at the grocery store or someplace similar, and the clerk will ask if I want to round up my purchase amount with the extra money to be donated to a worthy cause.
Too bad a group called “Women’s March” didn’t think of that before announcing their most recent average donation amount.
A step back first. Their website promotes a march on December 1st to, in their words, “hold the line for abortion justice”…in their mind, justice means having abortion be legal across the country; well, at least that…I didn’t linger long, but they equated the “crisis facing women in Afghanistan” with the abortion ban in Texas.
Regardless, they apparently sent an email to supporters to continue raising money, and noted the amount of their average donation this week. It was just under $15…eight cents less than $15, in fact…$14.92.
Which when you look at it on your screen really screams 1492…and that alone was enough to trigger the left. That led Women’s March to send a tweet from their official account, reading: “We apologize deeply for the email that was sent today. $14.92 was our average donation amount this week. It was an oversight on our part to not make the connection to a year of colonization, conquest, and genocide for Indigenous people, especially before Thanksgiving.”
You really can’t make stuff like this up.
Part of me says you should donate $14.92 to them, just to make your point…but you don’t want your hard earned money going to their cause, most likely. So perhaps make a donation today to your favorite cause, in the amount of $14.92…or perhaps even more appropriate, $16.20, 1620. Guessing it will make you feel pretty good on this day before Thanksgiving.
