It’s Your Choice—Or Is It?
The federal government is using our tax dollars to pay for so-called “public service announcements” and public relations campaigns regarding the COVID-19 vaccination.
I saw a TV ad with the message one night last week, and then saw a billboard for one while I was driving in Waterloo another day.
Government paying for messaging like this…and you’ve heard them or similar ones on KXEL…is an issue we can debate at some point. But I was struck by the rather inconsistent…or perhaps flat out contradictory…messages.
The hook in these spots is the image of a band-aid, apparently placed on your arm after getting the jab, with the phrase “It’s Your Choice” written on it. I looked into it a little bit, and that was the slogan…shots are available, but the government promoted them by saying “It’s Your Choice”.
But yet at every turn, this government is doing everything to take the choice away from you. Mandates here, public shaming there…all with a healthy dose of inconsistent messaging and ignored facts.
If, in fact, “it’s your choice”…then why are there all these mandates? “It’s Your Choice” but if you don’t choose the way we want you to, there will be repercussions?
It’s not surprising from a group who believe everything they say is so self-evidently correct, that dissent is not allowed.
“It’s Your Choice”? Really? Because I think the folks spreading the message really don’t think so.
