No Vaccine Coincidences
After being rumored for some time, the FDA made it official Monday, approving the Pfizer vaccine for widespread use, thereby removing the “experimental” tag.
Within hours, there was the president, touting that designation as justification for every business in America to require all workers to get jabbed. No excuses.
If you think that was all just a happy accident…well, you haven’t been paying attention.
If those handling the White House these days thought having the president rush to a podium while folks are still reading the FDA approval letter and demand vaccinations for all would help add to credibility, then they are the ones who haven’t been paying attention.
There is real concern about the vaccine among a variety of disparate groups…the highly educated, certain people of color, those in certain geographic areas. There is a decided lack of trust in government on the topic, with plenty of blame to go around to cover both major political parties.
So having one arm of government say the vaccine is fine, while another immediately uses that to justify its one-size-fits-all mandate only leads to more suspicion, not less.
As we have consistently said, this is a medical decision and not one we’ll advocate for or against. But overly-inclusive rules without considering those who have had COVID, who have antibodies present, who have valid religious or medical concerns…no amount of coincidences will overcome valid resistance from those corners.
