He’s Still In Their Heads
Last week, former President Donald Trump announced that he would accept an invitation from the Texas governor to return to the Lone Star State and see the border crisis for himself. That visit was set for next Wednesday, June 30.
Talk about boxing Democrats into a corner. But it’s really one of their own making.
The vice president was appointed more than three months ago to handle the border crisis. She promptly then took off to visit Ohio and New Hampshire, both important 2024 presidential states.
She ultimately went past the border to Central America, ostensibly to seek out the root causes of the illegal immigration influx…a move I earlier suggested was like talking to structural engineers about the cause of a breach in a dam…before you figured out how to patch the leak.
Now comes word that the vice president will go to El Paso tomorrow to see the situation first hand. The appropriate noise of those asking when she’d investigate first hand didn’t do it…the uncomfortable exchange with NBC’s Lester Holt on the topic, when she noted she hadn’t been to Europe either, didn’t do it…but knowing that Donald Trump would be there finally did do it.
Here’s the corner they boxed themselves into…if she went before him, as is now the case, he’ll get the last word. If he went first, then he’d properly roast her for not going sooner.
The left used to say that the Clintons were stuck in Republicans’ heads…maybe so. But it’s very clear Trump lives rent-free in theirs.
