Waking the Woke
Most people have probably thought of Bill Gates as the computer geek who struck it rich with Microsoft. He was so focused on work, he even met his wife there…she was an employee. And as a couple, they were woke enough to give millions and millions of money away to good causes, and called upon to comment on a variety of matters including recently the COVID vaccine.
Turns out he not only met his wife at work, but also a mistress twenty years ago. And he was apparently pals with Jeffrey Epstein, which apparently upset his wife more than the affair.
Then there’s supermodel Chrissy Teigen, known more recently as an empathetic figure speaking out following a miscarriage and prior post-partum depression. She was also quite vocal on social media about social justice and race last year.
Now, just as she has rolled out a line of cookware and related items, she’s having to account for other social media posts, ones that bullied a number of other women.
Understanding that we’re all human and all make mistakes…here comes the tough part for the politically correct woke crowd. How do they respond to people they previously showered praise upon, when it turns out they engaged in behavior decidedly not on the approved list? Should Gates be labeled a “me too” violator? Or should Teigen’s social media accounts be suspended due to bullying?
When you claim to be woke…and then we learn you need some more awakening…does it mean you were just drowsy before, and not fully woke? Maybe more coffee?
