President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping of China are set to meet Thursday September 24th in Washington D.C. Jim McCormick, co-founder of AgMarket.net, says that the agriculture industry will be closely following the meeting to determine what agriculture topics are discussed between the two delegations.
This will be the second face-to-face meeting between Trump and Xi in 2026, following President Trump’s visit to China in May. After the May meeting, the White House released a fact sheet which stated, “China will purchase at least $17 billion per year of U.S. agricultural products in 2026 (prorated), 2027, and 2028, in addition to the soybean purchase commitments that it made in October 2025.”
McCormick says that the agriculture industry is anxious to see if there will be any further confirmation of China agreeing to buy the $17 billion per year of additional U.S. ag products.
President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the United States will take place from September 23rd-25th.
