MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people are in custody after a shots-fired incident in Marshalltown Saturday. Marshalltown Police were called to the 300 block of North 14th Ave. for reports of a possible drive-by shooting around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found shots had been fired at a residence in that area. Officials said no one was hurt and the suspects fled the area. On Sunday, officers located the two persons of interest in the incident at a local bar and detained them for further investigation. Officers arrested 20-year-old Tyree Rudolph of Marshalltown and 21-year-old Jeremiah McMullen of Marshalltown. Both are charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and two counts of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, among other charges. Police said the incident is under investigation. WINNESHIEK CO., Iowa (Iowa Capital Dispatch/KCRG) – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating the source of murky water and high ammonia levels in Dry Branch Creek that resulted in a fish kill. According to a news release from the department, staff was notified Thursday of a possible fish kill and “a strong smell of manure” in the creek near Ossian. At the site, DNR staff observed dead fish and “cloudy” conditions in the creek. Water samples tested positive for ammonia, according to the news release. As staff examined the site, they found more dead fish three miles downstream as the creek exits Winneshiek County and flows into Fayette County. According to DNR water segment data, there have been three other fish kills in Dry Branch Creek, attributed to fertilizer, organic material or animal waste. DNR is still investigating the source of the incident, but advises downstream users to avoid using water from the creek.
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC/KCRG) – An unresponsive child was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Sunday afternoon. Emergency crews responded around 2:25 p.m. to a home on Maysville Road following a report of an unresponsive child. Both the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and local medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after. The child was subsequently transported by air for medical treatment. The child’s condition has not been released, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No other information was available.
WALCOTT, Iowa (KWQC/KCRG) – A 24-year-old Davenport man is in the hospital after crashing his motorcycle into two parked cars early Saturday morning in Walcott. Scott County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to the Walcott Mobile Home Park. Investigators say the motorcyclist was heading south on 60th Avenue when he ran a stop sign, drove into the mobile home park, and hit two parked vehicles. The driver was ejected into a nearby yard and airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The crash remains under investigation.
