CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids Police said they’re investigating after a shooting left one person dead Saturday. Police were called to the 600 block of 2nd Avenue SW around 5:40 Saturday evening for reports of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene to find an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound injury. Officials said the victim has since been declared dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family. Police said the incident appears to be targeted; however, police did not say if anyone has been arrested in connection with the shooting. Additionally, police did not name any suspects. The incident is under investigation.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – One person is hurt after a Saturday evening shooting on Cedar Rapids’ southwest side — the second shooting to happen over the weekend. Police say this happened around the intersection of 10 St. and 10th Ave. SW at about 8:45 Saturday night. The victim, who hasn’t been identified, suffered non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been announced.

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – One person has possible life-threatening injuries after a crash in Linn County Saturday. Linn County Sheriff Deputies were called to 2155 Covington Road south of Palo around 7:00 Saturday night for reports of an accident. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 2000 Honda 400EX ATV had rolled. Authorities said the driver of the ATV was thrown from the vehicle. He was flown to a local hospital with what officials said are possible life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office said the accident is under investigation.

OELWEIN, Iowa (KCRG) – Police are investigating after an attempted armed robbery and gunfire incident in a McDonald’s parking lot in Oelwein Friday night. The Oelwein Police Department said it received multiple reports of gunshots and a confrontation in the McDonald’s parking lot at the 10 block of 1st Avenue SE around 9:05 Friday night. Police said the initial investigation found several individuals had arranged to meet in the parking lot for a proposed sale of property. Investigators said during the meeting, a male approached a red sport utility vehicle and that’s when a confrontation occurred. Police said the male reportedly opened the vehicle door, attempted to pull out an occupant, displayed a handgun and fired at least one round as the vehicle fled the scene. The armed suspect left on foot. Officials said no injuries were reported. Officers said they searched the surrounding area using both conventional search methods and an unmanned aircraft with thermal imaging. The suspect has not been found and police said no arrests have been made. Officials said officers identified and interviewed the occupants of the vehicle and it was seized as part of the investigation.
