OELWEIN, Iowa (KCRG) – An Oelwein man has been arrested after police say he shot another man in the face. In a Facebook post, the Oelwein Police Department said officers arrested 69-year-old Donald Raymond Forney. Police were called to a home around 8:30 Saturday night for a report of a person who was hurt in an incident. Police say an adult man had been shot in the face with a .22 caliber firearm. He was taken to the hospital but no information was shared about his condition or identity. Forney is facing several felony charges including Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury. More charges are pending.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A man is facing several criminal charges tied to a late night police chase in Cedar Rapids. 20-year-old Darryl Alexander is charged with reckless driving and eluding. He is also facing an obedience to signal of train charge. The Cedar Rapids Police Department said the the chase started at the Linndale Mall, officers say he was doing burnouts in a parking lot. Linn County Dispatch says he drove off, starting the chase. The chase ended on exit 20 A along the S-curve near Quaker Oats after officers used a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle. Police say the chase ended around 10:30 p.m. and no officers were hurt.

WAVERLY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Bremer County Historical Society is making structural repairs to its building after the community raised more than $8,000 in a week. A month ago, the society asked for donations to make repairs to the building that dates back to the 1860s. Kimberly Murphy is the historical society president. “The importance of preserving history doesn’t just mean something to me, but it shows it means something to the community too,” Murphy said. The money raised is already being used for structural repairs. Steel jack posts have been installed across the basement of the building to help support the structure. Deterioration is visible on the basement wall. “It’s a big relief because the bones of this building are important and if we neglect it, it’s gonna pile up over time,” Murphy said. David Huser is the society’s treasurer. He said most of the funds are going toward work in the basement. The society is still taking donations. Murphy said the work isn’t over yet, but the repairs underway will help preserve history. “It’s a huge relief to take care of it right away, and have it done correctly,” Murphy said.

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A teen was involved in a roll-over car accident near Highway 30 Saturday morning. At 9:35 a.m., the Linn County Sheriffs Office says first responders were sent to an accident on Linn-Benton road. The vehicle, a blue Jeep Wrangler went had rolled over onto its side after the driver, a 16-year-old, failed a turn. The driver was wearing their seatbelt. The driver was sent to the hospital with minor injuries, though the accident remains under investigation.
