The long wait continues for an updated and modernized farm bill, but the farm safety net has seen recent improvements via the One Big Beautiful Bill Act says a senior USDA official. Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation Richard Fordyce says that the agriculture sections of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act were designed to improve security and certainty within the farm safety net.
He says that improvements have been made to agricultural risk coverage and price loss coverage.
The Under Secretary gives other examples such as lower marketing assistance loan rates, updating standing disaster programs, and crop insurance with a higher percentage of coverage and lower premiums.
