Another Month

The situation at our southern border continues…whether those in power want to call it a crisis or not…but we talked about that yesterday.

The president appointed the vice-president to be the administration’s point person on the subject. That was literally 31 days ago…a full month by any count.

And not only has the vice-president not gone to the border to examine the situation…she has not even spoken about it publicly other than to laugh off a suggestion that she go there that was made by a reporter a few days before she was tasked with fixing the problem.

You’ve heard folks on KXEL who called in from both Arizona and Texas outline the situation. If we can do that, we have to assume she’s talked to people, too…but no signs of action.

But then again, her 2024 presidential campaign is underway. Today, the vice-president is on the road to New Hampshire, home to the first in the nation primary. Now, if any other high-ranking politician were to visit New Hampshire, speculation would be rampant about political plans…at least when folks like Mike Pompeo, Nicki Haley, Tim Scott and Tom Cotton plan trips to Iowa, it’s viewed as laying groundwork for a run.

Yes, President Biden says he’s running for re-election in 2024, but he has to say that until 2023. Vice-president Harris is hoping that with her new title will come some greater interest than when she ran before, dropping out before our caucuses because of lack of support and campaign mismanagement.

Of course, those on the left will spin it differently, noting that you don’t have to go to a place in order to know how to fix a problem. But since photo ops at a scene are politicians’ stock in trade…it sure looks like a political trip to New Hampshire takes precedence over the day job today. Not sure what tomorrow’s excuse will be.
