CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The community is invited to view a redevelopment plan for 1st Avenue. Among other things, the city says the goal is to strengthen 1st Avenue’s identity, stabilize businesses and improve safety and walkability. People will be able to see the plan and give the city feedback. This will be at the Coe College Clark Alumni house at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A Dubuque County Farm building is now considered a total loss after an overnight fire. Just after 1 a.m. Sunday crews were called to a property along Dyersville East Road. Upon arriving, fire crews found a farm building fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported but the property damages are estimated to be up to $100,000. Officials say the fire was not suspicious and an investigation is not planned.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Fire crews in Cedar Rapids quickly extinguished a fire Saturday morning. A call came into the station around 9:20 a.m. about a fire at the 1400 Block of 5th St. NW. When crews arrived, firefighters performed search and rescue operations at a single-person home. Upon arrival, the department says a woman was found outside the home and was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The fire was rapidly extinguished as smoke affected visibility in the kitchen. The kitchen experienced heat, smoke and water damage. Light smoke damage affected the rest of the home. The department is considering the fire unintentional.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Friday night crash sent two people to the hospital. At around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, February 6, Linn County Deputies, Linn County Rescue, 3rd Fire District and Center Point Ambulance responded to a call about an accident in the 1900 block of Central City Rd. First responders arrived to discover a vehicle had been traveling westbound in the 1900 block of Central City when it left the roadway, entered the ditch on the south side of the road, traveled through a yard, and came to rest behind a residence. The driver of the car and a passenger were both taken to a local hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
