The Waterloo Democrat, who represents Senate District 31, says he’s confident his work has improved lives across Iowa, particularly through his historic preservation program. “After 30 years in Des Moines, including 10 in the majority in the Senate, I’m confident I’ve made life better not just for residents of the Cedar Valley but for Iowans all across our state, including with the historic tax credit program to save historic buildings and programs that enhance the quality of life and promote economic development in our communities.” Dotzler began his political career in the Iowa House of Representatives in 1996 before moving to the Senate in 2002. With his term ending, voters will name a successor in the November 2026 midterm election.
