LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A Marion man faces charges after being accused of breaking into a house on Wednesday. At approximately 3:29 p.m. Wednesday, authorities responded to a report of a burglary happening in the 3700 block of N. Center Point Road. The caller said he returned home to find a man inside the house. The suspect fled the scene on foot. Police found 47-year-old Timothy Meier, of Marion, on the property shortly after. He was charged with second-degree burglary and possession of stolen property. According to police, he was in possession of both stolen property and a vehicle that was reported stolen by the Cedar Rapids Police Department. The incident remains under investigation. No other information is known at this time.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (KCRG) – Marshalltown Police arrested a 19-year-old in connection to a shooting and robbery that occurred at a park in Marshalltown on Tuesday. At approximately 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, a person with a gunshot wound was brought to the Unity Point Health Emergency Room in Marshalltown. Authorities from the Marshalltown Police Department were sent to the emergency room to speak with the victim. Police say one victim had been shot at 1800 Marion Street (Nicholson Ford Park) on Tuesday night. Another victim was pistol whipped in the head. Both victims had items stolen from them. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Olivares, of Aplington, was charged with attempted murder, robbery: two counts, willful injury, assault while participating in a felony: two counts, and going armed with intent. Police say Olivares “specifically targeted” the two victims. Investigators found the suspect by using the FLOCK license plate reader technology. The incident remains under investigation. DAVENPORT, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa City man was sentenced to federal prison for receiving child pornography. Evidence presented at a sentencing hearing revealed 49-year-old Heath Harmon received, uploaded, and distributed files containing child pornography material. Authorities investigated into the BitTorrent network and found out Harmon was distributing child pornography across the internet from August 2023 to January 2024. Police executed a search warrant and discovered Harmon had child pornography on seven devices, including a laptop, two phones, SD cards, and other storage devices. Harmon was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, an eight-year supervised release, and a $35,000 restitution fee.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man pled guilty to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine on Wednesday.  63-year-old Cleveland Stephens pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in federal court on Wednesday. Police say he confessed to making plans with someone else to distribute over 500 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine between August 2022 and June 2024. He also admitted to conspiring to distribute over 50 grams of pure methamphetamine. He faces a mandatory sentence of at least ten years, with a possible maximum sentence of life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime term of supervised release following any prison time.
