CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A measles case has been confirmed in eastern Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services. An adult resident of eastern Iowa is confirmed to have measles. The person is fully vaccinated and has no known link to the previous measles cases in Iowa. Locations were released where potential exposure could have occurred are in Dubuque, Ely, Cedar Rapids, Amana, North Liberty, and Coralville. Iowa has seven confirmed measles cases in 2025.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) – An early morning fire caused significant damage to a home in Cedar Falls Monday. At approximately 2:52 a.m., the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a call regarding a house fire in the 110 block of Cedar Crest Drive. The caller said the home was engulfed in flames. When first responders arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof of the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire, attempting to prevent damage to nearby homes. All people escaped the home, and no injuries were reported. A pet that was initially unaccounted for was later found and rescued by firefighters on scene. The fire caused significant smoke, fire, and water damage to the home. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people have been arrested in connection to a stabbing incident in Cedar Rapids Sunday night. At approximately 11:09 p.m., police responded to a home in the 1200 block of Ellis Boulevard NW for a report of a fight. When police arrived on scene, they found three people suffering from stab wounds. All three individuals were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A criminal complaint revealed the fight broke out at a party. Two of the alleged victims claim 26-year-old Malique Johnson came out of the house, swinging his arm around with an object in his hand and stabbing people. It is believed the object used was a sharp knife or cutting instrument. However, officers have not yet identified the weapon used in the incident. Two people are charged in connection to the fight. Malique Johnson is charged with one count of assault – going armed with intent, two counts of assault – use or display of a dangerous weapon, and two counts of willful injury causing bodily injury. 30-year-old Allante Johnson is charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication. Anyone with information is asked to call Linn County Crime Stoppers (1-800-CS-CRIME) or CRPD.

LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – New details have been revealed in an incident that led to the temporary closure of I-380 northbound Monday morning. At approximately 7:43 a.m., Cedar Rapids Police received a call from a driver who reported another vehicle was swerving on I-380. Police located the swerving vehicle and attempted to pull the driver over, but there was no response from the driver, who was traveling at speeds around 55 to 60 miles per hour. Around Mile Marker 33, officers conducted a pit maneuver to stop the driver. The vehicle spun out and stopped. An ambulance was called for the driver. No citations were filed, as the driver was experiencing a medical emergency. I-380 northbound temporarily closed around 8:00 a.m. to move the vehicle off the road. All lanes reopened by 8:44 a.m.
