The prosecution has a couple of rebuttal witness testimonies expected this morning in the murder trial of a Tama County woman accused of shooting to death her husband. Yesterday, Karina Cooper took the stand in her murder trial saying she suspected Huston Danker–the man also accused in the murder–is the person who killed Ryan Cooper, not her. She says she never told law enforcement about Danker because she was scared of him. Cooper also admitted she and Danker were in an online affair that turned physical in February 2021, just 4 months before the murder. Danker is also scheduled to go on trial in the case.

Starting Monday, the Boyson Road bridge going over Interstate 380 in Hiawatha is set to close for 20 days for construction. This means all four I-380 ramps will be closed. The Iowa DOT says construction crews will do work on the area connecting to the Center Point intersection as well as the roundabout at 12th Avenue. Crews will also finish work on the northbound ramp intersection. The DOT says when the bridge reopens, the northbound exit ramp will also reopen. But the northbound entrance ramp will stay closed for a couple weeks longer.

A 15-year-old is charged in a shooting that left a woman hurt. Kam’Ron Hampton faces several charges. Police officers say they believe he fired the bullet that hurt the woman in the 1600 hundred block of Mulberry Street in Waterloo Sunday night. Down the street, police also found a 20-year-old man shot to death. No one has been arrested yet for that shooting.

Dubuque’s Miller Riverview Park and Campground will reopen today, thanks to dropping Mississippi River levels. The city says the river level has dropped enough for the park to reopen and forecasts predict a continued drop, but campers and park visitors should be aware that some parts of the park will be muddy and some areas may have standing water. The campground was closed Sunday due to the high water.
